"Acting as a
Profession"A Free On-Campus
Workshop For Drama Students
This popular "hands-on" workshop was developed in
response to requests from casting directors, agents, and drama
teachers for an in-school program that would introduce drama
students to the business of professional film and TV acting.
During the workshop, students learn about the basics of the
business from self-marketing to getting an agent to joining the
unions. Students learn what agents, casting directors,
producers, and directors expect from them the moment they step
into an audition room. Then students participate in several acting
excersises using short scenes from current motion picture and
television programs that we provide.
This workshop
takes a no-nonsense approach to the realities of becoming a
professional actor, especially in Southern California. Acting is a
business that requires hard work, dedication, and
perseverance. Students who have the passion need to put in
the time. For students who want to pursue a career as a
professional film and TV actor, this workshop is the place for
them
to start becoming pros!
